— From Rock Bottom to DisciplineFor ten years, addiction ran my life. Alcohol, cocaine, crack — it didn't matter which one, it mattered that I needed it. What started as something I thought I controlled became the thing that controlled me.
I lost everything a person can lose. I ended up living on the streets, homeless, stealing from major retailers to fund a habit that was never going to be satisfied no matter how much I fed it. Eventually that caught up with me, and I did time for it.
Jail isn't a redemption story by itself. It's just a room where you're forced to sit with what you've become. What happened next was the actual work — the slow, brutal, unglamorous process of rebuilding a person from nothing. No shortcuts, no motivational-poster moment. Just discipline, one day at a time, applied when I didn't feel like it and applied again the next day.
As of August 2026, I'm 19 months clean. Not “recovered” in the past tense — recovering, present tense, every single day. In that time I've read over 200 books on self-improvement, psychology, and philosophy — not to collect knowledge, but because I needed to understand why I broke and what it actually takes to rebuild a mind.
I built a life out of the wreckage, and now I coach others through Discipline Over Comfort, because I know firsthand that transformation isn't inspiration — it's discipline chosen on repeat, especially on the days you don't want to choose it.
I also give back to the exact life I came out of. For the past year I've volunteered at Gathering Place Soup Kitchen and TrueSelf Outreach, doing homeless food and clothing outreach — because I used to be the person on the other side of that hand. I know what it means when someone shows up for you with no strings attached. Now I'm that person.
This isn't a story about someone who never struggled. It's proof that where you start doesn't have to be where you end.
If you're here, you already know something is off. This is where that ends.
